The Scout Specialist Agent Teaches His
Junior the Ropes
Late at night, by the roadside.
Inside a black car, two agents were
talking.
"I'm going to teach you the ABCs
of scouting now," the senior one said.
"Yes," the junior one
answered.
"What I want to say first is:
observe the other party's character properly. Everyone, you see, doesn't really
look properly. When it comes to scouting players for a murder game, they
approach people just based on one or two elements, like having a good face or
having caused a violent incident. Because of that, they die immediately or
quit, and in the end, they don't become much of a player. Whether that person
looks like they can survive in the world of games—you have to be properly
convinced of that before approaching them."
"I see. I understand."
"So, as to specifically what
kind of person is good,"
The senior agent held up three
fingers, from the index finger to the ring finger.
"There are three points. It's
bad if even one is missing. Unless it's a person who possesses all of them in
good balance, they won't succeed as a player."
He folded his index finger.
"First is, Star Quality. After
all, they need to have charisma. No matter how excellent they are as a player,
if the <Spectators> don't put in money, it's meaningless. But well, even
saying charisma, there are various types, so in the beginning, you can just
choose based on their face. You'll learn the other types eventually."
The junior agent ran a pen across a
notebook and took notes. After confirming that hand had stopped, the senior
folded his middle finger.
"And, the second is Continuity.
Whether they will continue the game. Basically, we don't force people to do it
against their will. They have to continue of their own free will. Whether they
will continue to appear in a murder game by their own volition—in other words,
it has to be a girl with something strange in her view of life and death. It
feels like you determine that by reading that atmosphere from their eyes or
expression, or by talking a little..."
The junior took notes. The senior
folded his ring finger.
"The third one. This is the most
important but—"
At that moment.
From outside the car, a scream was
heard.
When the senior and junior looked
outside, there was a pair of a man and a woman on the street. A man wearing a
coat threw it wide open like a bat, showing off what was underneath to the
woman. An exhibitionist, and a woman surprised by him—that seemed to be the
situation.
As the senior and junior continued
observing, the situation took an interesting turn. The woman's face changed
rapidly from surprise to an expression of anger, and she kicked the man's
'thing' underneath with all her might. As the man rolled on the ground unable
to bear the pain, the woman kicked him further, thud, thud. It was a scene of
gruesome violence.
"Whoa..."
The senior agent gasped at that
scene, and then,
"...It's here, it's here, it's
here! We're getting out!"
"Eh?"
"We recruit that woman!"
The senior extended the ring finger
he had folded once, and folded it again.
"The third one! Violence! It's
meaningless if they can't survive the game, you see. It has to be a person who
can lash out instantly when push comes to shove! That person might just have
what it takes!"
The two agents got out of the car.
Leaving the man alone for the time being, they called out to the woman. While
soothing her as she was still agitated, the senior agent attempted to recruit
her—.
Watching that figure from behind, the
junior thought faintly, this job looks tough.
