Afterword
This is Ukai. Thank you very much for purchasing this book.
How did you like Volume 10 of Death Game? For the first time since "Cloudy Beach" in Volume 3, almost an entire volume was dedicated to a single game. I didn't consciously plan it, but the symbol of the "sea" matches up as well. Volume 10 naturally shines a spotlight on Yuki, as well as Airi and Shiro, but since all three of them are tricky characters, their drama isn't exactly straightforward.
Yuki.
She will likely no longer experience any inner conflict. Whether her body is damaged, whether she faces her twilight as a player, or whether she is driven into a corner, her heart will not waver. She has already dealt with all of that through the life-or-death struggles she has passed through so far. She has no need to attach meaning to her master's words, no need to use frustration as a springboard, and no need to have a phantom whip her into shape. She simply settles things appropriately within her own mind and brilliantly turns the tables.
Airi.
She probably doesn't experience inner conflict in the first place. She is an unparalleled eccentric who has brushed off all of life's hardships with a simple So this is how it is? However, because she lacked "motivation", she fell short of the ninety-nine times and ended up leaving the world of players. The fact that capable people do not necessarily achieve great results is what makes the human world so amusing.
Shiro.
She doesn't have the right to experience inner conflict from the start. For someone as inhuman as her, no drama can unfold. She is simply not equipped with a vessel to store catharsis. Instead of inner conflict, she just gets irritated. And to resolve that irritation, she acts without hesitation. That is all.
The story of such troublesome individuals is also drawing to a close. I would be grateful if you could stick around for just one more volume.
I would like to express my fervent gratitude to Editor O-shi and Nekometal-sensei, who provided immense support once again this time. Reaching the milestone of Volume 10 was only possible because of the two of you.
Well then...
Please wait a little while for Volume 11 of Death Game—in other words, the final battle.
