............It has been a very long time indeed. This is Ukai.

First of all, I am sorry. Nearly a year has passed since Volume 8... Why the delay? You might be wondering, "Is it because of work related to the anime?"

While that is certainly part of it, the primary reason as I see it is different: to put it simply, I was exhausted. I think to myself, "How can you claim to be 'tired' when you’re involved in so many things?" but... I truly admire those who can handle such a heavy workload.

In any case, here is Volume 9. This is the installment that marks the beginning of Yuuki's downfall. A peerless warrior. If there is anything that could break such a person, it could only be an absurd "coincidence" that reeks of conspiracy. The occurrence of such upsets is a defining characteristic of the game world.

In other words, I applied a "reverse protagonist correction" to Yuuki. This direction was decided at an early stage. However, as I continued writing, I felt that something was "not quite right," and I made a slight change at the very last minute. I believe this version is more irrational and absurd.

If there are no issues, this novel should be released on January 23, 2026, so the anime broadcast will likely have already begun. I already have the footage in my hands, and they are doing a truly wonderful job. My narrow field of vision prevents me from grasping exactly how many people are involved in the production, but I would like to express my deepest gratitude.

As always, I offer my thanks to my editor, Mr. O, and Nekometal-sensei—taking care that my gratitude does not become a mere formality. I intend to do my best to keep up so that I am not left further behind by the quality of their work.
