Thank you for reading this far; this is the author, Kiriyama Naruto. This time was a novelization project after a long while, but how was it?

Personally, it was very fresh and stimulating, yet I also had some nostalgic feelings, and I was able to work very happily.

Writing a novel is a solitary task. Of course, I receive a lot of warm support from the editor in charge and the people at the editorial department, but the sense of loneliness cannot be wiped away during writing. The basic flow is to discuss with the editor first to create the skeleton, write the story alone, receive corrections, and then fix it alone.

However, this time, the style was to create it together while receiving concrete proposals and advice not only from the editorial department but also from various anime staff members, including Director Yamashita Shingo. This reminded me somewhat of the stage theater I used to be involved in long ago, and the sensation of creating as a team was nostalgic, allowing me to proceed with the work with excitement. The opinions of professionals in other fields were a series of eye-opening experiences, and there might not have been such a fun job in recent years. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the anime staff who entrusted me with the novelization and the people at the Famitsu Bunko editorial department; thank you very much. It was a fun project that made me think I want to do it again.

Now, it goes without saying that this work is themed around ﹃Princess Kaguya﹄. This is sudden, but have you readers ever seen an alien?

Unfortunately, I haven't, but I know someone close to me who has witnessed one. My older sister. It's a story from quite a long time ago, but she declared she saw one during her middle school days. Moreover, on a riverbed in broad daylight.

That’s amazing, isn't it. If it were an eyewitness account like ﹁A UFO-like light at the edge of the sky in the middle of the night!﹂, it would end with ﹁That's probably some mistake﹂. But when told she saw the alien itself firmly on the ground in the daytime, I can't help but believe it. She said it looked considerably smaller than an Earthling, and she couldn't see its face because it was seen from behind. It was wearing no clothes, faintly glowing, not in a group but alone, and seemed to be slowly jogging up the riverbed from downstream.

The phrase "That's probably some mistake" almost came out of my throat, but I didn't say it. Because I'd get scolded. If there is anyone among you who has seen an alien jogging in the daytime, please let me know.
